Ochre Today
Explosive growth in Western Australia & Indonesia
Ochre Services was established to take advantage of the explosion in demand for broadband capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
In particular major initiatives commissioned by the respective governments in Western Australia (Big Pipes study) and Indonesia (Indonesian National ICT Council) highlighted the constraints placed on their economies by the unavailability of high capacity broadband capacity. New capacity is required to connect the respective economies at prices that are internationally competitive, given the strong nature of intra-regional competition, and the importance of minimizing the “tyranny of distance”.
Economic development can still continue apace in both Indonesia and Western Australia, given their tremendous respective resources sectors. However the development of a highly skilled and vibrant services sector that is internationally competitive is constrained. So too is the opportunity for step change development in areas like health and education, where connectivity can change the paradigm for knowledge sharing and the access to specialists.
Ochre is actively working with the Indonesian and Western Australian governments to address these opportunities. Further information is available in the background papers and presentations available in this section.
